Spooner, WI (July 7, 2014) – Spooner Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists (SPTRS) was excited to host their friends, past patients and community on June 26, 2014 for an Open House event. In addition to collaborating with the Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce for a Business After 5 program, the practice offered a “Strong Man Competition,” face painting, grilled dinner, scholarship award, and a raffle drawing for a 2-night stay at the Grand Superior Lodge. Overall, the event had a great turnout and people of all ages enjoyed the fun-filled activities.
Like any Business After 5 or Open House program, the event offered plenty of networking and socializing opportunities. Old and new members of the SPTRS team were excited to thank our community in-person for showing its support for 7 years. To express their appreciation, the practice offered numerous door prizes and gift baskets, including a 2-night stay at the Grand Superior Lodge grand prize. Steve Reitzel was the winner of the grand prize: “I was very happy and surprised. I made a last minute decision to bring my wife out to the open house. The food and the event was great. We’re really looking forward to the vacation we won from Spooner PTRS,” said Reitzel.
As the practice believes that continuing education should be a foundation and life-long pursuit, local high school students were encouraged to apply for a SPTRS-funded scholarship award within the weeks leading up to the Open House. The staff took GPA, extracurricular involvement, positive attitude and volunteer work into consideration for selecting the recipient.
After careful review, the SPTRS team was proud to award Brooke Schumacher with a $500 scholarship donation. “We had a lot of great applicants for the scholarship. Brooke stood out as she is very involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer work. We wish her the best of luck in her continuing education as she pursues her Occupational Therapy degree” said Erik Larson, DPT, Physical Therapist at SPTRS.
Of course, no event is complete without a delicious food spread. SPTRS staff member Matt Hagen manned the grill, providing burgers and brats to all attendees, and Economart provided a cake which thanked the community for making SPTRS their first choice. In addition, the practice held a Strong Man competition, testing 8-10 men on their hand-grip strength. And the Strong Man of the Year award went to the Chamber’s very own Director, Aaron Arf! Congratulations, Aaron!
Overall, the team was extremely happy with the turnout and enjoyed hosting their friends and family alike. “We would like to thank the Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce for helping us put the word out and assisting us in making this a great event,” said Larson. On behalf of the entire team at SPTRS, they would like to again say thank you to all the past, present and future patients who made the event possible. “We love serving you and our community!” stated Front Desk Coordinator Rebecca Melton.
